Kahala is one of Hawaii’s most prestigious and exclusive neighborhoods and is often referred to as the “Beverly Hills of Hawaii” for its beauty and Avenue of premiere ocean front properties. Located on the south side of Oahu, Kahala has a picturesque ocean shoreline with waters that are calm to swim in. Kahala’s beach stretches over 1 mile in length and includes sandy shores that change to an intermittent section of beach and end with sea walls.  Kahala is flat in topography which is a rarity on Oahu and favored for many who appreciate that their land is completely useable.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Kahala Mall Shopping Center was once known as Waialae Shopping Center back in the late 50’s and was a Liberty House department store, a grocery store, and a drugstore. Kahala Mall was transformed in 1970 to be the first enclosed shopping mall in all of Hawaii.

Kahala Mall has over 100 boutiques, shops, and restaurants. The first Whole Foods ever in Hawaii is located in Kahala Mall along with local boutiques, Apple Store, California Pizza Kitchen, Chili’s, Kahala 8-plex Theatres, Macy’s, and much more.

Kahala Mall also has a center stage with weekly live entertainment and performances.

Local grown Hawaiian fruits and vegetables, gourmet meats and cheeses and delicious home-made desserts and frozen treats can be found at many of the local eating establishments.

Things to Do

Waialae Golf Course is home to the Sony Open in Hawaii. Waialae is a player-friendly championship course with wide forgiving fairways. The course plays to a par 70 for the Sony Open and is a popular course because of its gentle trade winds that cool the course.  Waialae’s signature hole, the par 3 eighth hole, is bordered for 186 yards by the ocean.
